The small pepper from Herbón, the parish of Padrón where it has been grown ever since the friars of the convent brought it back from Mexico, which is the story as it is always told. Picked tender, finger-sized, fried whole in very hot oil with coarse salt. The saying is literal: in the same handful some are hot and some are not, and there is no telling which until you bite. Not from our vegetable patch — we have none — but from growers in Herbón.

How to store it
Picked and shipped unwashed: the soil is what protects it. Wash it just before cooking, never before storing. Leaves go in the fridge drawer in a paper bag or wrapped in a damp cloth, and keep 3 to 5 days. Potatoes and onions are the opposite: out of the fridge, somewhere cool, dry and dark — and never together, because onions make potatoes sprout.

We ship to mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands and Portugal. Free from €45.00. Fresh products travel in ventilated boxes and leave Monday to Thursday so they never sit in a warehouse over the weekend.
Fresh chestnuts and the packs that include them are perishable goods: by law (art. 16(d) of EU Directive 2011/83, art. 103(d) of the Spanish Consumer Act) the right of withdrawal doesn't apply. If they arrive in poor condition, send us a photo within 24 hours and we'll replace them or refund you.
