Season · July to October

From the Somontano, until September ends. For a plate and salt, not a sauce.

The pink tomato of Barbastro gets to half a kilo without trying, has paper-thin skin and hardly any seed: this is a tomato for a plate and salt, not for a sauce. The season is short — July to the end of September — and it does not take cold storage: outside those weeks you will not see it here, because the one that keeps is no longer this one. We buy it in the Somontano, in Huesca; we have no vegetable garden.

What matters

  • Short season: July to the end of September
  • Thin skin and little seed, for eating raw
  • Not from our patch: we buy it in the Somontano (Huesca)

How to store it

Picked and shipped unwashed: the soil is what protects it. Wash it just before cooking, never before storing. Leaves go in the fridge drawer in a paper bag or wrapped in a damp cloth, and keep 3 to 5 days. Potatoes and onions are the opposite: out of the fridge, somewhere cool, dry and dark — and never together, because onions make potatoes sprout.

Shipping & returns

We ship to mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands and Portugal. Free from €45.00. Fresh products travel in ventilated boxes and leave Monday to Thursday so they never sit in a warehouse over the weekend.

Fresh chestnuts and the packs that include them are perishable goods: by law (art. 16(d) of EU Directive 2011/83, art. 103(d) of the Spanish Consumer Act) the right of withdrawal doesn't apply. If they arrive in poor condition, send us a photo within 24 hours and we'll replace them or refund you.
